Migraines- The Headaches from Hell

Few people like headaches, and yet, most of us get headaches at some time in our life. The reasons for headaches can vary greatly. People can have sinus headaches from pressure in their sinuses, they may get blood sugar related headaches if their blood sugar gets too low, they may get tension headaches if they are under a lot of tension, they may get cervicogenic headaches as a result of motor vehicle related  trauma, post-concussive headaches from flexion/extension injuries, folks may get allergic headaches from being exposed to allergens, side effects from medications, and even headaches related to eyestrain. High blood pressure can sometimes cause headaches. These are
just a few of the problems which are associated with headaches.

For those folks who get headaches, they just want them to go away. Some headaches are idiopathic, meaning they come on , and then go away in an hour or two.
They are not pleasant, but one can function while they are there.

For folks with migraine headaches, many, if not most, call their headaches, at
their worst, disabling. Some are so disabled by migraine headaches that they just
lie down in the dark and wait for them to go away.

There are two main kinds of migraines. The first is the classic migraine, in which
the sufferer will usually know when one is coming on before the headache actually
develops. The symptoms that precede these headaches vary from person to person.
Some see a ring or "aura" around lights, some see spots before their eyes, some feel
like wind is brushing across their face, and others have different effects. These are
called "prodromal" symptoms.  The other form of migraine is the "common" migraine.

The common migraine can be just as intense and disabling as the classic migraine,
it just lacks the prodromal symptoms, so the sufferer just has the headache come
on without warning.

Most migraine sufferers report they become very sensitive to light (photosensitivity)
and many have nausea, and even dizziness.
